Block Fracking in Scotland Response 1 2014-10-10T14:46:21Z [Sovereign Scot] [Fracking] [blockFracking foeScotland frackOff Kezia Dugdale MSP] [/images/keziadugdale5-460x258.jpg] [article] false

My first reply from an MSP on the FoE Scotland Please support the call to block fracking in Scotland email comes from Labour’s Kezia Dugdale.

Dear xxx,

Thank you for your email on fracking.

Our Environment spokesperson Claire Baker MSP has continually called for the Scottish Government to introduce robust national guidelines along with submitting a motion in Parliament, which I have supported.

My colleague Sarah Boyack MSP has also written to the UK and Scottish Government to raise concerns regarding the decision to remove the need for people to be notified of drilling taking place under their homes. We are still awaiting a response from the UK Government’s Energy Minister.

Labour also pushed for an introduction of a buffer zone between communities and onshore gas drilling sites during the recent National Planning Framework and Scottish Planning Policy process.

In the meantime Scottish Labour will continue to push the Scottish Government to introduce robust national guidelines and ensure that full public engagement is undertaken before any future action is taken.

Kind regards,

Kezia Dugdale MSP

So, Kezia is not going to support the call to block fracking in Scotland then.

The reply mentions that “Scottish” Labour will continue to push the Scottish Government for robust national guidelines and that her party sort of thinks fracking below people’s property without seeking permission isnae quite right.

Kezia also mentions that she supports the motion put forward by her colleague in December of 2012 year which just asks for these national guidelines to be established prior to the energy companies fracking. Only, this motion has had the status fallen since March 2013, which means it fell at 1st reading in Parliament.

Well, good for Kezia, supporting a pointless motion that failed a year and a half ago, but nonetheless considered important enough to include in an email dated 6th of October 2014.

So anti-fracking count: 0 pro-fracking count: 1

I only just noticed that last sentence.. unsubscribed!
